Ohio State has fired men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann, according to multiple reports.
The Buckeyes have struggled mightily this season, currently sitting at 14-11 overall and 4-10 in Big Ten play following a 62-54 loss to Wisconsin on Tuesday. The team has dropped eight of its last 10 games and currently sits in 13th place in the Big Ten standings.
Holtmann finishes his time as Ohio State’s head coach with a 137-85 record. His best season with the Buckeyes came in his first year in Columbus – the 2017-18 season – when OSU finished with a 25-9 record and 15-3 mark in conference play. The Buckeyes finished second in the Big Ten standings that season and reached the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament.
Holtmann has more than $14 million remaining on his fully guaranteed contract, according to ESPN.
The Buckeyes are set to return to action on Sunday with a home matchup against No. 2 Purdue.
